State Experimental Forestry Institution «Vileyka Experimental Forestry» of the Minsk State Production Forestry Association (hereinafter – forestry) was organized in October 1939 from former landlord and state forests and is located in the northwestern part of Minsk Region on the territory of Vileyka (98.3%), Myadel (1.1%), Logoysk (0.2%), Molodechno (0.2%) and Smorgon districts of Grodno Region (0.2%). In the north, the forestry borders on the State Nature Protection Institution «National Park «Narochansky», in the west on the Smorgon Experimental Forestry, in the east on the Logoysk Forestry, in the southeast on the State Forestry Institution «Krasnoselskoye», in the southwest on the Molodechno Forestry. The length of the forestry from north to south is 57 km, from east to west 60 km. The area of the forestry is 96041.9 ha, forested land 86848.5 ha. The main forest-forming species are: pine – 65.9%, birch – 16.7%, spruce – 11.2%. The forest cover of the district is 40.2%. The average age of plantations is 64 years. The total stock of plantations is 21999.3 thousand m3. Age structure of plantations: young stands – 17%, middle-aged – 29.6%, ripening – 30.1%, mature – 23.3%.

The forestry includes 10 forest districts (Vileyka Experimental Production, Vyazynskoye, Izhskoye, Ilyanskoye, Kostenevichskoye, Kurenetskoye, Lyubanskoye, Narochanskoye, Prigorodnoye, Starinkovskoye), PMU «Rechki», a timber station, a production section for the production, storage of wood chips and loading of wagons. The number of employees is 436 people.

The main activities of the enterprise are: forestry management, harvesting and processing of wood, secondary use of forest resources, production of planting material, provision of a range of services to the population and organizations.

On the territory of the Kurenetskoye forest district there is a basic forest nursery with an area of 27.7 ha. Here planting material is grown for reforestation of coniferous and deciduous species. Ornamental plants are also sold here to the population and legal entities for landscaping territories and household plots.

On the territory of four forest districts there is a hunting forestry of the forestry, which was formed in 1968. The area of hunting grounds is 53.6 thousand ha, of which forest – 29.9 thousand ha, field – 22 thousand ha, water and marsh – 1.7 thousand ha. The main animal species are: elk, roe deer, deer, capercaillie, black grouse, beaver, hare. Hunting is carried out for ungulates (elk, roe deer, deer), fur-bearing animals and feathered game.

In the Domanovo tract, on the picturesque bank of the Viliya River, there is the Domanovo hunting complex, surrounded by pine forest. Nearby there is a natural spring. Visitors are offered comfortable double and triple hotel rooms for accommodation, a house for celebrations with a capacity of up to 60 people for corporate meetings, banquets, celebrations, birthdays and other holidays. The forestry offers recreation services on Slobodskoye Lake. It is possible to use places equipped for fishing, accommodation in a four-person trailer house, riding a catamaran or boat, and a bathhouse.

Kayaking trips are organized on the Narochanka and Uzlyanka rivers.

The industrial activity of the forestry develops in two directions:

timber harvesting;

wood processing.

Priority is given to timber harvesting activity, whose share in the total production volume is 70%. In wood processing, the largest share is occupied by lumber.

The forestry sells:

untrimmed and edged lumber;

cladding;

fuel chips;

firewood;

household broom;

bath besom;

New Year spruce (on New Year’s Eve);

honey (in season);

birch sap (in season);

seedlings of ornamental species (at the nursery).
